Fiber Frolic and stuff

Still alive! I need to work on posting on a regular basis.
In good news, I went to the Fiber Frolic down in Windsor. It was fun if hot and sunny. I managed to get a small sun burn along with my fiber. Mom was wonderful and drove down with me and carried all my fiber, she bought some stuff as well(actually I paid for it because she left her purse in the car). There were llamas, alpacas, sheep, goats, and bunnies there with all of the fibers for sale.

The vendors that were there had awesome stuff, and the makers of Merlin were there(the wheel not the tv show).

I bought fiber, from quite a few vendors. I now have fiber in colors called: Thor's Hammer, Downeast, Galaxy and the like. Though my favorite fiber was the yak and silk blend that I bought(Mom bought it for me actually but I paid).
So very pretty
All in all it was a very successful shopping trip.

In other news I signed up for the Tour de Fleece, hence the fiber buying. I am knitting my self a cowl that is hooded, Thorin's Hooded Cowl, so far I am still working on the cowl part.

Trying something, I am dyeing yarn with Kool aid, it is coming out greener then I wanted but is still a good color. I think I might over-dye it at a later date.

The dogs are enjoying the nice weather and so is Estel as now that the dogs spend time outside she gets the run of the house.

The flowers are doing well, as are the garden though the vegetable gardens are all fenced in to keep the dogs from eating everything again.

Snow, Snow and more snow

One week, two snow storms. The first one was named Euclid, on Thursday. Euclid gave us about a foot of snow and closed the library early. When I went to work that morning there was snow on the road and the roads weren't plowed in my town, by the afternoon the roads were plowed but people had started to have accidents  There was one in the center of my town, no one was hurt apparently  but the car was upside down in the ditch. On Friday we had some time so Dad had me clear the deck with the electric snow blower, I prefer the shovel and the giant snow mountain that results.

Freyr was the second storm, there has been at least another foot of snow from it. The major part of the snow came down in the night so beyond waking up and realizing that there is tons of snow again life is good.

In knitting, I have decided what pattern to use for Dad's birthday present and just have to wind the yarn to start it. Pictures of the yarn and project will be coming soon.
Grandma is enjoying her xmas present that I made her.

I watched the Christmas special for Doctor Who, and that was so not fair is all I have to say about it. Well and Strax is hilarious with his grenades. I had been attempting to get into watching Supernatural, but have given it up as I find it rather blah.
My cat decided one day as I was making tiramisu that she interested in the espresso.

On another note, Star Trek:

I need to post more

A lot of things have happened since my last post. My cat has decided that she doesn't like salmon anything; so we had to switch her food to one that contained tuna, not salmon. She is quite happy with this change, why she doesn't like salmon is lost to us mere humans. The dogs have found out that eating the plants in the gardens is really fun. So far they have eaten two entire pepper plants, some unripe tomatos, as well as my peas.

In good news my orchid decided that it was going to bloom and now has four flowers on it.

I did have to replace the stake that was holding it up as the one was too short to give proper support.

In knitting news I have finished the baby jacket I was knitting and started in on a project which is a gift for some one.

As the Olympics have started I have started the first of my ravellenic knitting projects. It is a tea cosy patterned off of John Watson's sweater pattern. No pictures yet. Right after I started I had to frog it as there was a math error in the pattern that was fixed, thankfully I was not too far along.

A few weeks ago I was working (volunteer) at an art show opening to benefit the library where I work. I was 'paid' in free food and drinks, both of which were very good.
Me, hard at work, taken not by me

Work, tea, and geekery

I started my summer job at the library last week, and it has been taking up most of my time. My evenings are mostly spent reading, watching movies and generally being antisocial. Working at a small town library is rather fun as you get to know many of the regulars, or you already know them from other places.
The Library

The children section has a boat called Booklogged
Beyond work I have been drinking large amounts of tea, especially in the mornings. Mostly drinking black and green teas. I have a black tea from Kenya that makes a wonderful iced tea, it has the right amount of bitter and flavor to hold up to being cold. It is best if made in my glass jar in the sun. The green tea that I drink the most is a pomegranate green tea so that it doesn't get really bitter but also not too sweet or fruity.

My random geekery of the week was partitioning the hard drive of my laptop. Most of the partitioning was spent with me growling at my computer to work and basically bribing it alternating with swearing at it. It had to restart all the time.

Now I can run Windows 7 or my regular Mac OSX! Also I can play Battle for Middle-Earth again.

The making of my army continues, I have completed one Weeping Angel and it is rather cute. My cat liked it so much she licked it multiple times, I thought that she was going to eat it briefly.
They get along well.
So I guess that my cat will be using my army to get rid of the dogs.

In other crafting news, one of my coworkers is pregnant so I am crocheting her a baby blanket and if I have time I will knit a sweater. The blanket is a rather easy and somewhat mindless stitch to do so it is a good pattern for when I am on the computer. My mom is getting another scarf for her birthday, I say another because she keeps requesting the scarf in different yarns. This will be her third scarf of this pattern.
This is her first scarf in the pattern. Mom is not the penguin.

My mom was out somewhere and found this:

Yes those are toilets as a rainbow, some with stuff growing in them. Somedays Maine is really entertaining to live in. It is also really pretty when the weather is nice and the bugs aren't out.
